May 7th

I'll probably call about 4 o'clock my time, that's when we're done with our church stuff. I would love to have my own room, sharing is no fun, at liberty square I had roommates that would sleep all afternoon, or come in early in the morning and wake me up, I think it would be nice to have my own clean room where I could sit at my desk and read and not worry about people coming in and out :) As you may see, my social desires have diminished greatly, all I want to do is get A's and learn...oh yeah...and find a hot wife! If a place had a washer and dryer that would be nice too. I don't mind going to laundry mats, so it's your call, I know it probably cost much more to have an apartment with that luxury.

Glad the trip here was enjoyable. It was fun thinking my entire family was 20 minutes away from me. I am not training, none of us elders going home are, which is surprising. I am with Elder Tiensuu, an elder from Finland. He speaks great english, and has been out for 20 months. (they learn english over there in school).
My living place changed, I now live by Westminster college. I still serve in the Holladay area, so I'm quite far, we have to get on the freeway to get to our area.

I'm very excited to see you. I don't feel too to trunky, but I'd be lying if I said I'm not thinking about home and am not looking forward to it. The baptisms went well, I forgot my camera, but then again, I'll just show you in 5 weeks

Talk to you on Sunday! (no skype this time, just plain old phone call)

Another good week, only 6 more.

it's strange thinking my next companion is my last one! crazy!

We spoke in one of the wards Sunday, it was a good one :) The east side continues to be a challenge, but it's fun. Everything else is going well, no complaints. How funny that all of you will be here in SLC, and I'll be 20 minutes away!

Not too much time to write today, I gotta get going! P-day is hectic! Take care Fam, I love you!

The sun is shining! How glorious it is to see my skin glisten with sweat as it soaks in the rays. Hello missionary tan lines, it's so good to see you again! We had a great miracle this week. A woman in the area called the local bishop, and informed him she had been researching the LDS church online and wants to learn more and become a member of the church! She was jogging by the church building one evening, and had the impression to go in and get the information for the bishop. The church was opened, as it must have been for meetings and interviews. The bishop and his family bought for her a set of scriptures with her named engraved on them, and gave her a Preach My Gospel manual. We will be meeting with her this week. Miracles baby, BOO-YAH!

Today, on our preparation day, the zone goes bowling at Fat Cats. It's free for us missionaries on the east side, and so it's part of the schedule. How I love to bowl! And it gives us a reason to wear jeans and a t-shirt, double bonus! I have indeed lost some of my skills acquired from my bowling class at BYU, but it's getting there.

Funny highlight of the week. We were out visiting members on a certain street, and a woman and her grandchildren were outside playing. As one of the kids yelled out for their Grandma, I greeted her coming up the driveway with the same, "Hey Grandma!" She was very pleasant. She said the home was her and her husband's, but that her daughter's family lived there right now, as she and her husband lived down in Provo. I mentioned I attend BYU, and so would be going back there soon. I then asked her what they were doing down in
Provo? She mildly said, "Oh, my husband works down at BYU" and left it at that. I inquired as to what it was he did down there, and she replied, "He's the president." Silence for a few seconds on my part as I thought on this....and then it hit me! "Wait, like...President Cecil Samuelson!?!" "Yup, that's us." Oh boy! Yeah, I totally know where good old Cecil lives!

Life is good, no complaints. Last week of the transfer is upon me, and come next week...IT'S THE FINAL COUNTDOOOWN!!!

We finally got a piece of the pie! Things are definitely looking up for us here in the Holladay area. We have some good leads and have a lot of things in motion. I'm for sure staying here the next 8 weeks, I think my companion will leave and I'll be a trainer. With the creation of the new missions here in Salt Lake, the church is pumping missionaries in like crazy to get ready for the split. In May we're receiving 30 missionaries, and come June an additional 40 missionaries! So yeah, chances are....I'll have one more greenie!

Everything else is fine and dandy, with only two months left, i feel like I've said all I could say. I have that attitude of, "I'll see my family and friends in 8 weeks...I'll talk to them when i get home." But I know my mother wouldn't like that, so I'll keep on typing!

We should have some more people to teach this week, I'm excited for the month of May, we'll for sure have some baptisms.

Love you all,

Elder Scotty

April 10

My last zone conference, weird. Elders Calderwood and Willnauer are in my zone, two of my original MTC buddies, so the three of us shared our testimonies. All three of us didn't have much to say, as we still have two months left, so our comments were short and brief. The members in my area are still great, they have such a strong desire to do missionary work. Easter Sunday was nice. The weather was amazing, and a woman and her children came to church that we have been meeting with! The mother is a less-active member, and she has five children, two of which are old enough to be baptized. She feels and recognizes the spirit, and knows she needs the church again in her life. Her children are great, the oldest boy is 11, and then follows three sisters and the baby brother. We have a blast seeing them.

The work continues on, it doesn't feel like it's almost over, I feel like I'll be here all summer, June seems so far away. If anyone is to send me anything right now, a jar of quarters would be most appreciated! I have been spoiled my entire mission when it comes to laundry. My first area I had a wonderful member do my laundry for me at her home, and since then I have been blessed with a washer and dryer in my apartment. In this area we use the laundry-mat next to our apartment and my quarter stash I have saved up my entire mission has nearly vanished! Hahaha how blessed I am to have to worry about quarters only, when so many missionaries in the world have to beat their clothes on a rock and boil a pot of water to do their laundry (or whatever the heck they have to do!) Yes, Salt Lake City has been good to me.

That's what I got, take care!

Conference was amazing. I'm pretty sad it was my last one as a missionary, I feel like those sessions of conference while wearing the black name tag will be very fond memories for me the rest of my life. I attended the Saturday AM, Priesthood, and Sunday PM sessions. Priesthood I was up in the balcony with an investigator, but the other two sessions I was right up front. I was very moved by Elder Holland and Hales addresses. The two were back to back, and flowed beautifully together for me. This church is true, no other organization on the earth comes even close to what the church is capable of, it has to be divinely led.

I shook hands with many members of the seventy. This morning we went to the temple, and in there with us was Elder Wilson, the elder that introduced his talk with the story of telling his wife to slow the car down, and telling her he had the right to tell her how to drive because he was her husband and held the priesthood :)

Great experience, glad I had the opportunity so many times on the mission to go see it live. Just as important as that, is the fact that I don;t have to wear my suit jacket during proselyting time! Only church and other meetings! Hello short sleeve white shirts!

The Holladay area has proven a worthy opponent. The work was slow this past week, with many people denying the blessings of the Gospel in their lives with words like, "GO AWAY!...YOU F***IN MORMONS!....HAVE FUN IN HELL!" Yeah, it's a blast. But the members here are incredible! Wow am I impressed with them. They try so hard to reach out to others and get rejected as well. It will happen, miracles will come.

10 weeks left, all the jokes from elders are coming out about me going home soon. It's an odd feeling being an old timer missionary, there's only my group and the one going home this transfer who know President Sonne, the former mission president. Next Monday is my last zone conference, where they have all the missionaries going home before the next zone conference share their testimony. It seemed so far away, and know I'm the one having his last zone conference.

Everything else is well, I'm loving life. Take care everyone!

Transfers came and went. I was released from leadership and am told to focus on my new area and helping my companion. I am now serving in the Holladay and Holladay South Stakes, here on the east side of Salt Lake. This is like a new world to me. Spending most my mission in West Valley and then the Nepali program with refugees, I am now surrounded by rich white people! Church yesterday was fun. I counted how many fancy cars were in the parking lot. For your information there were:
BMW: 8
Mercedes: 5
Luxury Lexus: 6
Audi:4
Porsche: 4
Range Rover: 2

And that was one ward!

My new companion is Elder Mbawa. He was born in West Africa, and recently his family located to San Jose, CA. His father is living in Germany, he works at the embassy there. His entire family is LDS, he has an amazing testimony. As far as missionary work goes, the east side will be a challenge. We have met many non-members, and all of them have shown ZERO interest in the Gospel :)

On a lighter note, my last day in Evanston, we went and ate at the the Main St. Deli. The owners are members and feed us for free, how I love them both! I told them I wanted to do the wing challenge, which very few people had been able to conquer. The challenge was 10 wings in 25 minutes. I hammered the first one down, it wasn't that bad. By the time I finished the second wing and looked down at 8 more to go, I was done. Those wings were, by FAR, the hottest things my mouth has ever known! It wasn't just a "wow this is too intense" kind of hot, this was a "my entire body is aching with pain! My face is going numb! My arms are tingling! My senses are bouncing off the wall! The room is spinning and I see a light at the end of a tunnel!" hot! It was hilarious for all in attendance, I invited the other two elders in Evanston to witness it. I suffered for the next two days. Will I ever do something like that again? Absolutely not! Was it worth it...absolutely yes!

I'm pumped for conference. I'll be down in front. If you were standing at the podium, I would be to your left. My mission has flown by, and with April on the horizon, I think it's going to hit me sometime in the third week of the month that I only have one full month left in the field, and come June, it's time to pack up.

Miracles will come, I'm too motivated and happy for them not to. We're working hard, and doing our best to work with the members.

Take Care,

Elder Scotty

March Madness

Ya know, the super bowl and college basketball should be time off for
missionaries, trying to catch people home and available is quite
difficult! On Saturday my companion hit the front left side of our car
bumper with the post of our car port. You may be thinking, "Elder
Warczak, weren't you standing behind the car backing him? Why did this
preventable accident occur in the first place?" Listen, I am
completely innocent of this! He was pulling out slowly and straight,
then all of a sudden, he turned the wheel right and the left side came
swinging around in a matter of a second. What could I have done? There
was no time to even mumble off a small cry of warning! He thought he
cleared the post already and made an evasive manuveur that failed. I
was completely and utterly...helpless :)

Our mission president's wife called this morning. She had a question
she has had since the beginning of her and President Winn's mission,
that she knew I would have the answer to. The question was, "How can a
missionary wreck a car, when their companion is behind the car backing
them?!?" Ohhhh gosh. I pleaded my case, my companion even took full
blame in the accident report we filled out for the church. But she
wouldn't believe me! She awarded Elder Herbert and I the "dumbest
companionship of the week" award...an award I gladly accepted, knowing
in my heart I was free of any guilt.

Transfers are this week. I have that gut feeling like I'm leaving to
go to my final area of the mission! It's exciting to know how close I
really am to the end of it, i have had so much fun and learned so
much. Leadership training last week was different for me. All the
trainings were ones I have had before, multiple times. I looked back
in my study journal during one of them, to find notes from 11 months
ago on the exact same thing!! I felt extremely old, and it was hard to
get much out from the trainings. With so many new missionaries, I
guess we have to go over things again, but boy was it hard for me
hearing them all again for the third time.

We've found some good families this past week, the work will go well
in this area.
I'm counting the days down until conference, because then I'll be able
to wear short sleeve shirts and no suit jacket! HAZAAH!

Keep it real, see you all in 12 weeks and 2 days! Hahaha!

Elder Scotty

A Prepared People...Finally

My companion and I have seen many trials the past two weeks. No one we were teaching was really sticking with us for more than a lesson or two. It was hard to find them, but even harder to move on and find someone new. This past week we met a man who just moved into the area with his wife. She is a member of the church coming back full swing into activity, and he has been thinking about joining the church himself the past few weeks. We knows it's true, it not only makes perfect sense to him, but he knows the feelings he has about it all come from his Heavenly Father! I am pumped to work with him!
We spoke yesturday in the ward where the "crazy woman" incident took place last week. It was not as eventful, but I'm pretty sure the spirit was there in greater abundance :)
On Saturday the BYU Singers came to Evanston for a concert. It was a refreshing thing to be a part of. I'm used to listening to only Mormon Tabernacle Choir and church hymns, so hearing something new like that was such a treat for me, especially choir music. One of my best friends Laura Turner was in the choir, but she could not be involved with it this semester as she is student teaching right now. I was sad she wasn't there. Ohhhh well.
The sun is shining, and this week I'll be down in Salt Lake for leadership training. That's always a good time. A funny side note, I've written six letters to good friends of mine; three of them are members of the church, three of them are not. I have received three letters back. Can you imagine who they were from? Yup, all three letters were from my non-member friends back in Washington. What did I learn here? That it's official, Mormons are the worst pen-pals :)

Two New Salt Lake Missions, a Baptism, and the Most Akward Sacrament Meeting Ever

The church news announced this past week the creation of eight new missions around the world. Two of them will be right here in Salt Lake City. The Salt Lake City West and Central Missions will take affect July 1st. The central mission is coming entirely out of the Salt Lake City South Mission, so we are not affected by that. The west mission is being created from our mission. West Valley and Magna will be it's own mission, a staggering 16 stakes! They will have eight missionaries in each stake: two sets of english missionaries, one set of spanish missionaries, and one senior couple. Missionaries in our mission will be re-assigned to the West mission, about sixty of them. Our mission will take in around thirty stakes from the Ogden Mission, including fourty missionaries from that mission. Now our mission will go up through Bountiful, Utah, which includes the temple there as well.

Since I go home before all this goes down, I'm not thinking about it much. My group is the last to go home before the change happens :)

Many missionaries are upset though, the thought of being in a new mission with a new mission president is not a fun one. The first presidency and quorum of the twelve apostles feel that this is the direction that missionary work will go. More missionaries in smaller areas where they will work more closely with the ward councils, stake presidents, and members to do missionary work. Pretty much my entire mission will be part of this new west mission. The Granger area, where I spent a year, and the Magna young single adult stake.

Our baptism Saturday went teriffic! Sister Portillo was beaming, and felt an overwhelming feeling from the Holy Ghost, she is truly converted! That family is almost complete now, only one has not yet decided on baptism. Wonderful family, one that I will be staying in touch with over the years.

Church yesturday was interesting, to say the least. We attended a sacrament meeting in the town of Hoytsville. Saturday was the high school junior prom, and so at the church many young men were in their tuxedos, and the young women in their dresses. One of the girls just became a Laurel. The bishop had her come up and he announced it to the ward and congratulated her. Her dress was a very nice one. The dress had no sleeves on it, but thick straps. Her legs were covered all the way, as it was a big poofy dress. Definitely not one to make one think, "wow that's pretty immodest". So the meeting goes on, and the sharing of testimonies begin. A few into it, a woman gets up to the pulpit. She is visiting for the day, her young nephew in the ward was baptized on Saturday. After she introduces herself, she begins to single out this poor girl and her dress, saying it was "very innapropriate, and that she could not feel the spirit at the beginning of the meeting when she went up to the front". She continued to say how she would never let her two sons view anything where girls were dressed like that, and that this young girl's parents and young women leaders need to talk to her and let her know that it is not alright to wear something like that. She was sorry if she offended anyone, but she reiterated that this young woman was out of line with the dress she was wearing. The bishop stood up RIGHT after she ended her comments and said, "Please remember to keep our comments focused on Christ, and not be judgemental towards others". Oh baby, the spirit was GONE the moment that woman began her attack. Members got up and tried to lighten the mood, with funny stories and good testimonies, but the spirit never came back. The very last man to share his testimony was the superintendant of the school district, who knew the girl and her family very well, and defended them boldly. He stated that he wasn't speaking by the spirit, and you could tell, he wanted to correct this woman and let her know that what she did was not alright. He did a very good job of it, I was impressed. Turns out, this girl is adopted from Romania. Her mother is battling breast cancer and almost died. The entire ward has worked with the family and loves them dearly. Even before I learned this after the meeting, I was livid. I was going to get up and share my thoughts when bishop jumped up and said his comment. Members, after the closing prayer was offered, marched right up to this woman and in a loving way told her what she did was completely out of line, and told her what this girl's family is going through. Still, the woman wouldn't budge, and defended her comments. I have never felt more awkward in my life than I did in this meeting. It's members like this that give the church a bad rep here in Utah. Self righteous ones that have the "holier than thou" attitude. Many girls we saw that day had dresses with straps. None of them were ridiculous, I thought all of them looked beautiful.

That's my week, man was it an eventful one. I hope everyone else had a chill week, free of crazy ladies who think they've already had their calling and election made sure :)

Until another week!

Love,

Wyoming Zone = Domination Zone!

Right now our zone has about 30 people on date for baptism. With only
14 of us missionaries out here, that's not bad! Everyone in the zone
is fairly young compared to me in age and also time in the mission
field. I have been out nearly 6 months longer than my companion.
There's one other elder who's been out about that time, and another
who just hit a year. The rest of the bunch has been out 6 months or
less. It's a great zone. All of us are pumped and excited to work
hard, we want to be on top of the mission! The record for baptisms in
a month in the Wyoming zone is 32, we can beat it!

We received some good phone calls this week. A woman wants to meet
with us. Her husband is a member but not active. They used to always
feed the missionaries, and enjoyed their company. I guess some things
have happened recently, and this woman is now ready to investigate the
church. Another fellow we met with is praying for when he should be
baptized. He knows it's what he needs to do though. He is a very
interesting guy, so he may take some time to work with.

We are meeting many more of the members. I've met a few more that I
know will become life long buds of mine.

This Thursday we are going to be teaching seminary. We will be
discussing 1st Kings chapter 17-22, good old Elijah! The other elders
here in Evanston will be teaching the other few classes, their
assignment is a little more challenging, they got people like Josiah
and Hezekiah to discuss with the classes and what all went on during
that time.

March is here, conference right around the corner! In church they
announced that tickets were available, which caught me off guard.
Since this is my last one as a missioanry, I will be getting a few
pair of tickets for down front in the plaza, right where the church
leaders come out from the back :)

I've decided I'm going to get boots. Everyone here wears them, and
they look amazing. And they're extremely comfortable! I'm not sure
when, I'll have to save up some money, but when I get them, watch out!

Leadership Training and a Cold

The past two days I was in Salt Lake for leadership training. I and my
companion did not give a training, I'm assuming we will at the next
set of trainings in March. The first day was fine, but the next day
was rough. I have a major cold, and it hit me hard Tuesday night. Day
two of training, I just sat in the back with a big box of kleenex
praying for the day to get over. We were trained on good things. My
mission president is a boss. He blows me away with how he teaches us
and the love he has for us.

Wyoming is going well. Everyone here in the zone is pumped for March,
we're going to baptize quite a few. The majority of our zone is very
young, with most of them being on their missions less than 6 months. I
am by far the oldest missionary. Right now my companion and I have two
people with a baptismal date. The wife of the man we just baptized a
few weeks ago is set for the 3rd of March, she's pumped!

I'm happy my new niece is doing well, I can't wait to see little
Claire. Brown hair, oh my! That's great about Todd getting accepted to
Georgia. Five years there, that will be fun to go visit, I've never
been to the south, I'll get me some good eating!

Everything else is well, the weather is mild and I received letters
from both Jason and Sara and also Melissa. It's great to hear from
friends. I love you all, take care!

No More Walking!

We get our car back today from the shop! It was a very slow week
without it, especially during the afternoons when no one is available
to give us rides. We found some new people though that hopefully will
turn into something good.

I'm glad I'm done with my second super bowl as a missionary, the work
yesterday was dismal! HA! No one was around to meet with us, everyone
had a party to be at. We did our best, but nothing exciting happened.
Transfers are this week, I think my companion is leaving. I'm set on
being here two more transfers, so I'm not too interested in hearing
where everyone ends up at and who's with who.

This week I went on exchanges with Elder Talaipa, and elder from
Western Samoa. He's crazy, but in a funny way. I was in Rock springs
with him, so he had to direct me everywhere to go as I drove. Just
getting to the apartment was an adventure! "Go left...no no no go
right! You missed the turn, you were suppose to go left, oh my gosh!"
Hahaha!

I bought a bunch of those valentine's day cards you give out when
you're in elementary. I got NBA and Phineas and Ferb. I'm sending them
all out to the missionaries I know and love. There's so many new ones
I don't know, so it's only about 50 I'm sending out. With transfers
this week, I'll drop them off at the office so they can sort them all
out and put them into the place they need to go. We're lucky here in
our misison, zone leaders pick up the mail from the office once a
week...well, unless you're a zone leader like me out here in Wyoming,
we're just banished from the rest of the mission!

I have my next cancer check-up at the Huntsman next Monday, prayers
would be great!

Elder Scotty

Just Another Trial...No Big Deal

So you know how last week I was telling you about ALL the people and
families we found....well, forget about them. HA! This past week was
B-R-U-T-A-L! We had 9 investigators dropped, many of which called us
after our first meeting and told us they did not want to meet with us
again, or that they were just too busy with life. Everyday the phone
rang with the bad news. What brought a smile to my face was the song
by Queen, "Another One Bites the Dust", it's been in my head all week.

Our baptism Saturday went great. I have pictures, but I didn't bring
the right memory card from my camera :(
The whole thing was in Spanish, it was pretty cool to feel the spirit,
even though I had no idea what was being said.

I'll share a personal experience I had this weekend. We spent it down
in the Coalville Stake. We had received a list of new move in's and
part member families. One was of a man who was inactive living with a
woman, who also is an in-active member. Upon arriving at their home,
the man came out to greet us. He was very friendly, and happy to see
us. He himslef had served a mission to West Virginia twenty years ago.
He was married in the temple and graduated from BYU and went on to
medical school. After twenty years of marriage, he and his wife were
divorced, and he now has tattoos and piercings. Instead of being a
family doctor, he has left that and is now running a marijuana farm
down in Arizona and selling it for medical purposes. He said he still
has a firm testimony of the church and the Gospel, but took the
divorce hard and is happy where he is at right now. It blew my mind.
As we left I began to think, "How can I make sure that's not me in
twenty years?" The question really began to bother me, because this
man had said he never thought he would be where he is at now.

The next day we visited a name we had received at church to stop by.
We got the the address wrong, and ended up at a relative's house, an
older couple. There was a portrait of a man in their living room that
I had seen at the church building before. It was of the same picture.
This man, Elder Olsen, was murdered while serving his mission in
Columbia back in 1989. Turns out this was his home we were now in, and
these were his parents. We talked about it with them, and what that
experience was like. We asked them, "How did you keep your faith going
through a trial like that?" They replied, "It never wavered, our faith
in the true church of Jesus Christ is what supported us through that,
and is what continues to support us. Our faith never wavered." I know
Heavenly Father answered my question through this good couple, and
that it was meant to be for us to go to that house. I know tough times
will come in my life, like these people I've mentioned. This couple
helped me to realize that no matter what happens, the Savior is there,
and with Him I can handle anything and become a better person.

The week was tough, one of the hardest. Nothing went our way. I'm
still not sure what we are going to do to find new people to teach,
we've tried everything. But miracles will happen, as long as I
exercise faith in Christ.

Love,

Elder Scotty

Snow and No Car

Pics:

Lexi was baptized by her uncle last Saturday, she's very excited about
the Gospel, and her older Sister Shaely is showing interest in
learning more!

Typical missionary apartments, but some Elders, like Elder Keel and
Ericksen in rock Springs, live in a castle with many priviledges :)

Today we had to turn our car in to the shop to get repaired. If I
didn't tell you before, an elder before I arrived here had the smart
idea to try and drift the car in the ice, and ended up spinning out
and smacking the driver's side of the car into a fence...you can
imagine my feelings towards this individual as I learned our car will
be worked on for over a week, and we will have to walk during the day.

Snow came on Saturday. It dumped on us! We're back to sunny skies, but
another storm is coming tomorrow. This week was a grueling one. We
found many new people to teach, but then four of them called and told
us they did not want to meet again...dang! We had to let of few others
go as well, they just were not progressing and didn't want to make
changes now in their lives. BUT! tonight we are seeing a family. Dad
is a member, but mom and none of the children are. They were excited
to see us at their door one night, and we pray that they will want to
continue to meet with us.

In one of the wards we cover, there is a Scottish woman! She met her
husband over there, a cowboy from Evanston Wyoming, and the two of
them decided to get married and to live here. She's an older lady,
bright bright red hair! She has the accent and all. I told her I'll be
coming over to talk about Scotland and to have her show things from
Scotland to me! I'm pumped, a Scot here in Wyoming, oh yeah!

Elder Scotty

It's Dang Cold!

UGH! So I don't have any pictures today. The plan was to email
tomorrow, because we are pretty busy today. We had some time this
morning, so my companion says, "Let's go email"....I don't have my
camera with me! Barnacles.

We had a great baptism on Saturday, the girl was very ready and
excited. We have met more people this past week, including a freshman
girl at the high school and her father. She is amazing. She has been
to church summer activities, and knows that she has felt the spirit.
She didn't know much about Christ, but she not only understood it as
we explained, it rang true in her. She wants to be baptized! Her dad
is interested as well, he will probably take a little longer, but he
is very supportive of the church of knows that there is something to
it.

It's getting very cold here. Right now it's about 7 degrees, and
that's with the sun out and blue skies. It's actually not that
intense, just when the wind blows, then I feel it to the bone! Long
john's and hand warmers are my heroes right now.

Our zone is doing extremely well right now. Everyone is having
success. It's usually tougher here in Wyoming, with the small towns
and all, but it's amazing to see the Lord leading these people to us.
One companionship had 10 new investigators this past week! February
will be a great month for us.

Elder Scotty

Out In No Man's Land

Yes, I'm still a zone leader. Here in Wyoming, there is no "city" there all small towns. I serve in the biggest one in our zone, Evanston (it has the Wal-Mart!) but the rest of the zone is in the middle of NO WHERE! Lyman, Kemmerer, Green River, Rock Springs, absolutely nothing out in those places. There's a buffalo ranch in the Lyman area, so I get to see them every now and then :) Wyoming is beautiful, with the mountains we have and then the flatness of it, it's really something to awe over. Sorry I don't have pictures, we are emailing first today, and I thought we'd be doing it later. I planned on taking pictures at certain spots and everything today!

Yes I live in an apartment. As far as mail goes...letters we have a lock box, but packages? I think they just put them on our doorstep, which should be safe, we are somewhat secluded, and our neighbors are active members. We don't go to Salt Lake City regularly. The next time I'll be there in probably transfers come February 8th. Yes Courtney, please find me aplace to live in Provo, I don't have any plans with firends or mission buddies to room together, so where ever you want me to live I'm down for it! And of course I'm flying home, I have to teach the people on the plane ride! Hahaha!

Zone conference was yesterday in Salt Lake. Those are always enjoyable. Our zone is doing somewhat well, no major issues. As for my area we are in good shape for the time being. We have three people on date for baptism right now. A few people want to be baptized, but want to wait for certain situations. One man is dealing with a divorce right now, and the other wants to wait for her husband to become worthy to baptize and confirm her a member of the church. The people out here are amazing, I am going to have many close friends from serving here.

As this transfer is winding down, it scary to see the missionaries that are leaving. Many of them I have known my entire mission, and as they leave I become one of the older missionaries. Elder Burkard goes home this transfer, my second companion I spent over 4 months with is leaving me! There's not too many left that have been out longer than my group, there's so many new missionaries that I've given up on trying to figure them out. Especially here in Wyoming with only 14 of us. I'll be here a while, I won't know anybody by the time my mission comes to a close!

Things are great, I'm excited for what Wyoming holds in store for me.

Transferred???

Imagine my surprise when I heard that I was being shipped off again. I said it my entire mission, "I don't want to go to Wyoming, especially in the winter time!" Well well....Elder Warczak is now over the Wyoming zone! We cover Evanston, WY and the Coalville, UT area. It's nice being out of Utah, I feel like all the other missionaries in the world now. I have space, we have to drive far to get to places, it's lots of fun. I'll make sure I take pictures, I've just been so lost this week trying to remember names and streets. I'm serving with Elder Willnauer, who I came out with from the MTC. He's one of the best missionaries in the mission, we are both easy going guys that want to work. So far there's no snow, but I'm sure it's on the way. The members here seem amazing, they will definitely help us out.

We found some great new investigators this past week. An unmarried couple with a one year old boy and a single man who's had problems with the law in his life. All are incredible. This man has had a rough life, suffering much for his poor decisions. He works now with a good group of LDS men and they have been sharing the Gospel with him. He is the most prepared person I've met on my mission. He may need to wait for baptism due to the legal matters, but he will do whatever he needs to in order to have the blessings Heavenly Father wants for him in his life. We have three young children on date for baptism. All three were set on baptism when I got to the area. From what I see mother, all family member are on board and excited for their kids to be baptized. I know you don't like seeing kids baptized into inactivity, and I'm the same way, I'll make sure that if we teach children, I have the parents on my side and they are willing to get back into activity themselves.

Nothing else to report, new year's was good, we played catch phrase at a member's house. The entire mission had a party at the mission office, but since we're so far away here in Wyoming, we weren't allowed to come. I know I know, sad day! Still love being a missionary, 2012 is here, and I have 5 months left, time to kick it into high gear.
